Waiakea Water Becomes the First to Use Nano-Degradable Bottles

The bottled water industry reportedly rakes in more than $100 billion worldwide. As more and more companies compete and market themselves as the most ‘purest’ brands out there, one company that is shunning all of that and focuses on becoming the world’s ‘greenest’ beverage brand. Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water will be the first beverage company to use fully degradable bottles that is said to break down faster than regular plastic bottles. The new nano-degradable bottle is a positive advancement towards helping the environment. A regular plastic bottle takes more than 1,000 years to break down in the environment. Waiakea bottles will fully degrade after only fifteen years.

Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water was co-founded by CEO Ryan Emmons, an entrepreneur from Santa Barbara, California. In 2012, Waiakea Water was commercially launched and it has since grown to become available in over 5,000 stores across the United States. The company donates a week’s supply of clean drinking water to the drought-prone areas in Malawi, Africa, for every liter sold. There was more than 500 million liters that were divvied out to rural regions across Malawi, thus far.

The company’s owner Ryan Emmons, would travel to his family vacation spot in Hawaii during the winter months. After taking notice of the smooth and pristine natural volcanic-filtered waters while vacationing, Emmons quickly had the idea to bottle the water and share it with the world. He leased the water source for 99 years and quickly went to work on manufacturing Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water with his business partner, Matt Meyer, Waiakea’s co-founder. It became the first brand to use Hawaii volcanic water as its main source and became one of the fastest growing U.S. beverage companies in the past three years.

Waiakea Hawaiian Volcanic Water is an award winning premium brand, its water comes from the ice-capped volcanic mountain of Mauna Loa. As the snow melts it seeps through a natural filtration process through thousands of feet of porous volcanic rock. The Waiakea water pH level is over 7.6 and is uniquely purified from natural alkaline and various minerals. The water also contains a hundred percent natural electrolytes including potassium, magnesium, chloride and sodium.
