In December 2016, Omar Yunes was declared as the Best Franchisee of the World in a competition that brought countries from across the globe. Not only did he win the global award, but he also won the Best Franchisee award at the country level with his case “The professionalization of the role of the franchisee.” Omar Yunes is a Sushi Itto franchisee, which has 13 franchised units across Mexico. His franchise units make up to 10% of business for the Japanese food franchise. He was representing his country among countries such as Portugal, Brazil, Hungary, France, Argentina, Mexico, and Italy, among others. To win the Best Franchisee of the World award, you are required to meet several standards. A franchisee should have a positive effect on the network represented and not really the brand. As such, you should contribute to knowledge in the network, teamwork, leadership character, savings, employee motivation and improvements to the business model used.
