He piloted investments in 21 healthcare companies that are successful, including Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Amerigroup, and Amira Pharmaceuticals. Previously, Tananbaum held and founded management positions at Theravance and Gel Tex Pharmaceuticals.

Tananbaum studied at Harvard Medical School and earned his M.D. He went to Harvard Business School and received an M.B.A and a B.S.E.E. and BS from Yale University.
