Sheldon Lavin, OSI Group CEO


In the world associated with the meat and food processing industry, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of OSI Group, Sheldon Lavin, is about as high profile as it gets. While there is no denying Mr. Lavin’s success with OSI Group as a leader in the meat and food processing industry, his climb to the top spanned the better part of four decades and several different industries. Mr. Lavin initiated his foray into the world of business as an investor. He achieved a great deal of success in this area and soon expanded his job title to that of a banking executive, as well as the head of his own financial consulting firm. It was through a budding relationship with fast food giant, McDonald’s, that Mr. Lavin became directly involved as a partner in the company, after being persuaded to do so by their representatives. During the 1970’s and 80’s, OSI Group continued to cultivate their relationship with the McDonald’s corporation, while overseeing a significant growth spurt that allowed them to develop outside the United States, making its way into foreign markets such as, Taiwan, South America, Europe, and other parts of Asia. Today OSI Group employs more than 20,000 people in its nearly 60 facilities that are located in 16 countries across the world. At the age of 81, Mr. Lavin has shown no signs of slowing down, as he and his staff at OSI Group are actively expanding to new and untapped markets. Throughout his time at OSI Group, Mr. Lavin and his staff have received a myriad of awards, including the prestigious Global Visionary Award, which is handed down by the Vision World Academy of India.     It was in the early 70’s that Mr. Lavin’s career was catapulted to new heights when he began overseeing financing options for Otto and Sons, the precursor to OSI Group.
