Yanni Hufnagel is a 30 year old jewish man, raised in Scarsdale, New York. In his younger years he read numerous books on coaching, and could often be found acting them out with basketball figurines. As a teen he began to work at the town’s television station calling games for local teams. He went on to assistant coach, and recruit for numerous prestigious schools around the country including, Harvard, Cornell University, University of Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and currently the University of Nevada. A well respected figure in the basketball world, Hufnagel has made a name for himself both as a recruiter, and an assistant coach.
Yanni Hufnagel attended Pennsylvania State University for one year before transferring to Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and labor relations in 2006. Hufnagel completed a coaching internship with the New Jersey Nets, which he followed up as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team while attending the University of Oklahoma. Yanni Hufnagel earned a master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education, specializing in intercollegiate athletics administration in 2010.
Yanni Hufnagel has coached for many prestigious universities around the country. In june of 2009 Hufnagel at the recommendation of Coach Capel began assistant coaching for the Harvard Crimson men’s basketball team, He spent four years at Harvard where he lead a 90-30 win/loss record. In 2011 he was featured in a CBS Sports survey as being the mid-major assistant coach most likely to “make it big time due to his recruiting ability”.
