Technology is allowing more and more opportunities for people to meet their match. The emergence of dating apps like Match.com and Tinder are helping to bring more and more couples together. The Dating App Bumble has taken the dating app and put a unique number of twists on it. Founded by Whitney Wolfe, Bumble is giving singles even more reasons to trying using an app to find love.
Bumble takes a unique approach to creating couples. The app permits only women (in heterosexual matches) to start a chat with their potential male match. Users than have just 24 hours to respond or the conversation goes away. The app includes a number of other unique features which include the ability to favorite conversations, send photo messages and make a quicks swipe to like potential matches.
Just like Wolfe’s other app, Bumble has had great success. As of July 2016 the app had more than 7 million users. Most users are woman in the 18-25 range. In 2016 Bumble reported that it’s users spend an average of 62 minutes on the app daily. Early in 2017, according to the New York Times, Bumble had more than 800 million matches and 10 billion swipes per month, making it the second most popular Lifestyle app in the app store. According to Time, the company is valued at $500 million.
Still in her twenties, Whitney Wolfe has built quite a remarkable resume during her career as an entrepreneur. A graduate of Southern Methodist University Wolfe has helped to start the first and fourth most most popular dating apps in the world based on monthly usage. Her success has been so great she was named one of Business Insider’s 30 Most Important Women Under 30 In Tech in 2014. With such great experience and success already, Whitney Wolfe is sure to be heard from for many years to come.
