Known as one of New York’s leading attorneys and financial strategist, Sam Tabar was recently announced the Chief Operating Officer of Full Cycle Energy Fund. After a decade-long career in financial and legal counsel and having worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, Tabar now seems to be taking a more socially-conscious path.
Tabar graduated from Oxford University with honors in Bachelors of Arts. He later joined the Columbia Law School for his masters, where, in addition to being an excellent student, he also served as Associate Editor of the Columbia Business Law Review. It was no surprise then that following his graduation, he landed the opportunity to work at top law firms in the world. As an associate at Skadden, he was in charge of overseeing investment agreements and regulatory issues in addition to providing hedge fund related legal counsel to clients
Navigating The High Finance World
In September 2004, Tabar left his fledgling legal career for the field of financial analytics by joining Sparx Group/PMA Investment Advisors. Despite being new to the field, Tabar went on to become the managing Director and Business Development Head at the company. His achievements while at Sparx/PMA include –
Managing worldwide marketing and investors for hedge fund worth $2 billion;
Designing a marketing plan for his company for targeting institutional investors and ultra-high-net-worth clients in the market;
Providing the firm with a directory of about 2000 potential investors and making 400 similar introductions; and
Helping raise $1.2 billion in assets under management
In February 2011, after a long career at Sparx/Puma, Tabar joined the Bank Of America Merrill Lynch as Capital Strategy Head for its Asia-Pacific region. Here, his role as director was to counsel hedge fund clients and design marketing strategies to draw investors in endowments, pensions and funds of funds. Stint As Private Investor And Return To Legal Field
Post Bank Of America, Sam dabbled in startup investments by working with SheThinx, a company dedicated to empowering women worldwide by focusing on feminine hygiene.
Sam made a return to the legal field by becoming Senior Associate to Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP. Tabar managed the company’s hedge funds, and oversaw compliance and employment issues, before leaving in March 2014. Most recently, Sam was COO named at FullCycle Energy Fund, a Los Angeles based company dedicated to investing in low cost, environmentally friendly fuel.
