Andy Wirth is a professional in the hotel and mountain resort industry. He is a graduate of Colorado state university where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He has an extensive experience in the industry of more than 25 years. His career began with him serving in leadership and marketing positions in Steamboat Springs resort in 1986.In 2007, Intrawest acquired Steamboat and Wirth became the chief marketing officer and executive vice president of the company. Besides the vast experience in international resort management, he has worked with the various airlines in developing flights to resorts in Utah, Colorado, and Canada.
Andy Wirth has received a series of community service and professional awards in his career. He has been awarded the chairperson’s outstanding service award by the board of trustees for Reno-Tahoe airport authority. Wirth serves as the board’s new president from July when he got appointed together with three new members. He has also received the award for business leader of the year from Steamboat Springs. He too has appeared in sales and marketing list for top 25 minds in hospitality and travel. Disabled Sports USA recognized him as the citizen of the year. Besides, Wirth has also received the community five awards. He is also very active in social activities. He and other two men formed a team that helps raise money for navy seal foundation. The team, known as special welfare warrior support group raises funds for comrades who have lost their lives and got injured in the battle lines.
Currently, Wirth is the president and CEO of Squaw Valley. He succeeded Nancy Cushing in 2010 after leaving Steamboat. Squaw Valley Resort is among the largest ski areas in the United States. Its location is in Olympic Valley in California. It has been the host of several winter Olympics including that of 1960. The resort covers an extensive 3600 acres and attracts a big 600,000 skiers every year. Squaw Valley Resort offers a variety of services to its visitors. It provides roller skating, dining high altitude disk golf shopping among others.
The resort has many annual summer events that are well known. It’s only in the Squaw Valley resort that host well-known musical performers and accomplished yoga teachers in July. A variety of beer and wine events and concerts are also available. The resort also hosts a community of writers. IN 2012, the Squaw Valley joined with alpine meadows to increase access to 6200 acres and added 43 lifts and 276 trails for ski activities.
