Now Entering Russ's World
Mrs. Susan McGalla is an American business executive who is currently the Director of Strategic Planning for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the sole proprietor of P3 Executive Consulting, a high-end consulting company intended for large businesses.
Mrs. McGalla was born in East Liverpool, Ohio, where her father served as the local high school football coach. She was raised alongside her two brothers. Susan McGalla attributes her success partially to her father and brothers treating her like another person, and not as most people would treat a woman. McGalla learned that there was not much difference between genders, aside from the obvious physical differences.
Susan McGalla of prnewswire.com went to college at the nearby Mount Union College, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing in 1986. After graduating college, Susan got a job at Joseph Horne Company, a defunct department store chain. She worked for Horne’s at various positions until 1994, when she was hired on by American Eagle Outfitters as a divisional merchandise buyer of women’s clothing. In 2003, she earned the title of President of the American Eagle Brand and then moved up to the President and Chief Merchandising Officer of American Eagle Outfitters, the highest positions in AEO.
She branched off and started to work as an independent consultant for companies in the retail market. Mrs. McGalla was very well suited for this line of work, as she had worked in the retail industry for nearly thirty years at this point. Four years later, in 2013, Mrs. Susan McGalla founded P3 Executive Consulting, which is one of the most reputable consulting firms in the United States today.
Mrs. McGalla may seem like just another high-ranking American business executive, but she had to overcome the gender gap, which is the difference in how men and women are treated in today’s day and age. When Mrs. McGalla started working after graduating college, the gender gap was much larger than it was today, which means she had to jump through many loops and hurdles and get promoted.
Mrs. Susan McGalla likes to speak to women and encourage them to never give up on their dreams of going far in the business world, as women can sometimes get discouraged because of the unfair treatment they sometimes experience in the workplace. Unfortunately, the gender gap in the business executive realm in the United States is very, very wide, and nearly unchanged by women’s rights and women’s activism endeavors taken place over the last century.
Unlike some women, Mrs. Susan McGalla has never pulled the “gender card” to get further in her career: she did it the old-fashioned way, by working hard to get what she has earned.
