Now Entering Russ's World
Quadrillion of South African dollars will be traded into foreign currency…President Robert Zinbabweans will be exchanging Quadrillions of local dollars for U.S. dollars Mugabe’s government is set to discard its national currency that has become worthless, according to the central bank. Hyperinflation ruined the Zimbabwean dollar in 2009, which hit 500 billion percent in 2008. This hyperinflation has now caused the southern African country to start using foreign money like the US dollar as well as the South African rand. With Prices rising almost twice a day Zimbabweans had to carry plastic bags full with bank notes just to buy basic foods like milk and bread. The customers who had the countries dollar before March 2009 will be able to go to their bank and convert their money, according to Governor John Manguda. Citizens only have until September to bring their money in for trade, although some people will probably keep the money to sell as souvenirs to tourists says Mikal Watts. For $175 quadrillion and under of Zimbabwean dollars, $5.00 American dollars will be exchanged. For bank balances over the 175 quadrillion the exchange rate will be $1 for every $35 quadrillion Zimbabwean dollars. I can’t imagine carrying a shopping bag full of money to the store to get a loaf of bread and a carton of milk, I am sure the people of Zimbabwe will be most grateful for the lightening of their shopping load.
