The renowned master of horror, Christopher Lee has passed on at the age of 93. The veteran actor had been hospitalized for heart failure and respiratory problems. The experienced actor died at approximately 8.30am on Sunday morning at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
Christopher Lee’s wife, the former Danish model Birgit Kroencke, withheld the tragic news for four days until all close friends and family members were informed. The two have been married for more than two years with one daughter, Christina.
Mr. Lee originally created his name in horror films by playing a significant role as Frankenstein’s creature and later the infamous vampire Dracula in an array films for Britain’s Hammer Films studios during the 1950s up to the 1970s. Lee canonized in the movies from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dracula to The Wicker Man and James Bond thriller The Man with the Golden Gun.” Twitter.com also said that he had filmed in more than 150 movies since the commencement of his career in 1948 up to date.
The news of his death was shocking to many including fellow actors, musicians and even the prime minister himself. On Thursday, co-star Elijah Wood tweeted “You were an icon and a towering human being with stories for days, we’ll miss you.” He was a true legend as Tim Burton, the director who worked with Lee on five films characterized him. He was the last of his kind – a true legend – who I’m fortunate to have called a friend. He will continue to inspire me, and I’m sure countless others for generations to come,” he added.
He was a huge inspiration to many people’s lives.
