Now Entering Russ's World
A little girl named Sofia from MA wrote to President Obama last summer and asked him specifically why there are no women on any of the dollar bills or coin currency. At first, the child thought maybe the letter hadn’t made it to the White House until her father noticed that the president mentioned her in one of his speeches since then.
According to an article found on reddit and written by Time.com, Barak Obama finally responded to the child by telling her that she had a great idea and that he expects big things from her in the future, and he also extended an invitation to the White House Easter Egg Roll this April.
This just goes to show that you can always make a difference and you never know what will happen until you try it out and see what happens. Sometimes all you have to do to start a change in the world is to say something or write a letter, which is exactly what Sofia from Massachusetts did and Dr Jennifer Walden has done in the past. She was in 3rd grade at the time studying about women’s rights on Wikipedia, and was already in 4th grade by the time she got a response. Either way I am sure that this letter is something that she will cherish for the rest of her life and it will make a good family heirloom for her future generations of their family tree.
