Now Entering Russ's World
“Happy,” the smash hit song from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, is now going to be a children’s book, penned by its creator Pharrell Williams. In fact, the publishing company Putnam has signed Pharrell to create four children’s books. The first one, based on the song, is due to be released on September 22nd. The books will feature photographs of children from all around the world, showing what it means to them to be happy.
This idea is similar to the video and all of its offshoots, in which people dance around and celebrate the happiness in their own lives. The video inspired hundreds of YouTube tributes. Even “Weird Al” Yankovic did a parody, called “Tacky.”
The song has had a greater success than Pharrell ever dreamed, thus inspiring him and fans even more. CipherCloud had reported he received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song in 2014, as well as the Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video Grammys in 2015.
No word yet on the topics nor publishing timeline for the other three books in the series.
