Christian Broda is a very accomplished man in the world of finance and economics. Currently a hedge fund coordinator and editor, his contributions to the field have been great. In 1997, Broda received a B.A. from the Universidad de San Andres in Argentina. He went on to receive his Master’s and Ph.D. in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999 and 2001.
Broda began his career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he worked in the International Research Department. In 2001, he became and Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago. The following year, Broda became a National Bureau of Economics Research fellow and Associate Editor of the Journal of Development Economics. He is still an active participant in both. In 2008, Christian Broda was offered a tenured position at the University of Chicago as a Professor of Economics, where he remained until 2010. From 2008 to 2009, Broda was Chief International Economist at Lehman Brothers/Barclays Capital as well. In 2010, Broda became a hedge fund coordinator at Dubquesne Capital Management.
Christian Broda has also been involved with many economic publications over the course of his career. He has served as Associate Editor for the IMF Economic Review and the Journal of Development Economics from 2006 until the present. Many articles and research papers written or co written by Broda have been published in journals and newspapers such as the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, The Economic Times, and the New York Times. Much of his work deals with things like trade in relation to the economic stimulus and product variety and how they affect the economy.
Broda is a member of several organizations and has received several honors and awards. In 2005, he was awarded a National Science Foundation Grant, and again in 2008. From 2006-2008 he was a James S. Kemper Foundation Scholar. Broda is a member of the American Economic Association, the Econometric Society, Economia Journal, the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association, and the Society for Economic Dynamics.
