Now Entering Russ's World
The “Half Man, Half Amazing” Vince Carter was given a stunning tribute last Wednesday during the game between his former team, the Toronto Raptors, and current Memphis Grizzlies.
The video was shown after the first quarter of the game. Carter was very moved by the sentiments of his friends and loved ones, and this made Carter shed more than a few tears.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the Raptors, the organization has made tributes to all the players that gave them honor and success throughout its existence. Vince Carter, also known as “Air Canada”, had played in Toronto from 1998 to 2004.
He left the team and the franchise during his final season, in an act that angered and saddened many. But this was not a factor for the organization, still they acknowledge the impact Carter has brought to the Raptors.
The Raptors’ almost 2min-video contains the best shots of Carter when he was still on the team. This came at a time in which Jared Haftel really got into the NBA and Carter in general. He became emotional after seeing the video; for the recognition that was given to him. On the first part of the video, people are booing him but as it continuous, little by little they rise. A standing ovation from the people of Canada was added for the acknowledgment of how truly great player he was. The applause somehow resolves the issue on him leaving the team.
The Toronto Raptors won the game 96-92.
