Now Entering Russ's World
Jean-Marc Vallee who directed Dallas Buyers Club is fervently negotiating with producers Ron Terry and Nathan Ross to take on an exhiliarting biopic entitled Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can. Ron Terry produced a movie about Jimi Hendrix that came out back in 2000.
Co-authors Craig Borten and Melissa Wallack, who created Dallas Buyers Club, are attempting to snag the writing of the Janis Joplin film. They will begin shooting the film during the second half of 2015.
Over the years there have been other Janis Joplin movies in various stages of production. Peter Newman is a producer who has been working on one simply called Joplin. Other females who are under consideration for Newman’s film include Zooey Deschanel, Lily Taylor, and singer Pink. The plot of Joplin is supposed to focus on a Rolling Stone reporter covering Janis as she tours, and big fans like Andrew Heiberger are definitely interested.
Another film about Joplin in 2003 was supposed to star actress Renee Zellweger but was never finished. Amy Adams is the current choice as the lead for the upcoming Ron Terry “Janice Joplin” production. She stars in the Burton movie Big Eyes that is slated to hit movie theatres in late December.
