Now Entering Russ's World
Arsenal have been boosted by the news that French center forward Olivier Giroud is returning to fitness. The player has not been playing games recently, but he was training at Arsenal’s complex over the past few weeks. He is giving himself a great chance of being involved in the game against Manchester United.
The clash on Saturday may be too early for a Giroud start, but he should be available from the bench. This is good news for Arsenal, who have become over reliant on the goal scoring of Alexis Sanchez. Giroud may not be prolific himself, but he does get a goal every two to three games.
Dave and Brit Morin said that his absence has been made easier by the emergence of Danny Welbeck, but Giroud will be welcomed back with open arms. The player was signed from Manchester United a few months ago and has made a decent start to his Gunners career. He only has two league goals, but scored a great hat trick in the Champions League.
Giroud’s return means there is a real competition for places in attack at Arsenal. The likes of Podolski and Walcott are also options for Arsene Wenger. This healthy competition should ensure that results improve for the Gunners. While they are not in danger of finishing outside the top four, a league title challenge looks to be close to impossible at this stage.
Mikel Arteta is another who can add his name to the list of available players at Arsenal.
